Subfamilies and genera of ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) present in Zamora-Chinchipe, Ecuador.

Ants are one of the most informative and manageable groups for biodiversity assessment and ecosystem monitoring (Delsinne et al., 2011). The country records 11 of the 12 subfamilies present in the Neotropics, although the subfamily Martialinae, described in 2008 in the Brazilian Amazon, has not yet been recorded. Similarly, Delsinne et al. (2011) mentions that this region hosts around 60 genera.
